wow, i was definitely going to suggest using gimp, but i see that others already have...

i use it, and it is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. seriously.
now...for your images.
the image quality doesn't look too good, but i think that's because you had to resize it. the float on water thing is reallllly neat, totally in love with it, but i think you should watch out for image quality, and like i said, resizing. usually if i resize it (since i have gimp) i use percent to do it, so that i know that it is resizing equally.
the banner...maybe work on making it all fit together, you know? it kind of looks like a lot of icons, and that's cool, but it would have been neat if they all had worked with each other.
so, final suggestions: use dafont.com (i think someone already suggested it, but it really helps--i swear). its a safe way to download fonts, and there are such cool ones on there. also, use the tutorials on this site (you'll need a software for it, but gimp is free, and you can try to download adobe stuff for thirty day trials.) they can really help. one last thing, too--maybe try to make stuff that isn't vampire. its a really cool thing, but it can really box you in, and that can stop you from reaching the potential we all want.

you're off to a great start, i can't wait to see what you put up next.

edit: aaaaaah fourth!!
