hi! wow i'm first!
so i really think you have a good start here. happy2.gif your composition is so much better than mine when i started out. *cringes*
the biggest thing i'd point out is image quality and preparation. make sure the people you use aren't totally blurry and try to match their skin tones to give evenness to the graphic. THIS is an example of when you should do this.
i really like THIS and i think it would be utterly wonderful if you played around with the coloring and text. in fact i could say that about all your graphics. the text placement is good, but the fonts and colors could use some work. check out dafont.com for fonts that fit the mood of your graphic rather than relying simply on the preset fonts. and def play around with adjustment layers and things. i'm not sure what program you use (idk if you mentioned it somewhere) but i'm sure there'll be ways regardless.
oh and check out the tutorials on here for some tips and tricks. happy2.gif
looking forward to seeing more from you!

Hey smile.gif
Wow thanks for the review!
I really appreciate any critics, since I'm totally new in this business^^
Now that you pointed out the fact with the skin tones, I noticed it aswell, so for this one: THANKS! I'll keep it in mind! wink.gif
Yeah, I know, my fontsand text colours are bad - but I'm trying to improve here tongue1.gif
I've already visited dafont.com after I posted it here and downloaded some cool fonts there! So the next ggraphics should be better^^
Just fyi, I use gimp, and no I don't think I mentioned it anywhere but on my profile I think I posted it... Could be wrong though wink.gif
Anyways. Thanks for the amazing review!
And make sure to re-visit my gallery soon wink.gif I hope you won't be disappointed biggrin.gif

Hey there, I'm Julie (but I go by JR a lot). ^^

I love the blending on your signatures! And that giant blend, that is SO cool!

I actually really like your old CI too, none of mine look that good, especially my first one! -shudder-

Yeah, back to that giant blend, I literally keep having to stop writing this comment because it's distracting me. So fabulous. <3

A second review! YAY!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH biggrin.gif

To the giant blend thingie: I came up with it today - or better yesterday, since it is after midnight, but anyway - and originally it was supposed to be entirely Alex/Scor. But then when I had the background done, in my head popped up this idea of the two sides-of-face-thing and then I completely rearranged my idea biggrin.gif

And thank you again for the wonderful review <3

Man-oh-man! You have been BUSY since I was last here. XD

I love how you're experimenting, and all the blending/layer modes/etc, etc you're using. Your graphics look so soft and pretty. ^^ I especially love the Vic/Teddy banner, the image of the two little kids kissing is adorable and completely perfect with it. <3

Keep doin' what you're doin' girrrrl.! biggrin.gif

I've taken you meant the "generation" blend when you said that it must have taken me ages to do it?
Well actually it took me about- well I have no idea how long exactly but I think I remember it wasn't that long wink.gif
I'm glad it has this effect though biggrin.gif

Hi Sally, Jacinta here with your requested critique! Lets get this party started up on in here, ahem, moving on So basically Ill go through your gallery section by section and tell you what I think needs work and what I think you are doing just fine. Ill try to give you some tips, so hopefully they will help you out!

Icons You only have one set, I like the concept, but I definitely think that the icons could benefit from a bit of contrast and maybe some sharpening, also, Id make the text a little smaller as it is taking away from the images a little bit instead of making them stand out. I do like the cuts on them though, theyre creative happy.gif

Signatures I really adore the composition on your first two signatures, but what is bothering me, is the text. Especially the smaller text, its very sharp and quite pixely to me. Im not sure if gimp has this setting, but on Photoshop when you click the text toolbar, there are options for text such as Crisp, Sharp, Strong and Smooth. I always pick Smooth as it works the best and then text isnt as pixely. For smaller text, it is always best to use a sans-serif or serif font, you can normally find these types of fonts already installed on your computer (Arial, Tahoma, Verdana, Georgia, Times New Roman etc.) In all honesty, I think the main thing that is really bringing you down is image quality, I know, looking for HQ images is a pain, especially when there are LQ images or even MQ images that you want to use but you cant find them in HQ. Image quality makes all the difference in the world, seriously. On your first sig, the image quality is remarkable! But on your next two sigs, the images used just really drag the sigs down. Though, another thing that I think might be making things look a little LQ is the fact that you are saving your graphics as JPEG files, now, that is all good and well but saving as PNG gives you the highest quality possible! happy.gif

Chapter Images The Story of Me cis are both lovely but on the second one, I noticed that Taylor's hair is a little pixelated, most likely due to image quality more than anything though. On your last two cis, I think that maybe the text could be played around with a little, and you would probably benefit from using two different fonts on them, instead of just one font the text on both of them, if you get what Im saying?

Banners I love your first banner, its so lovely. But watch out for text that is too small for a graphic, I have problems with this in my own graphics as it is On your second banner, I noticed that the girls skin is very, very red/orange. When colouring, it is best to keep skin tones looking natural because unnatural skin tones detract from the graphic, they dont add to it. Another thing, text should always be legible, I personally think the second banner could do with a very faint stroke around the text, a gradient map or a slight drop shadow to make the text stand out more. I love your Those eyes banner, though one thing I would suggest is moving the text more towards your focal point, which is the girl, I would assume. I love the concept of your forth banner, but I can barely make out the first word, I think it says (non) existence, but I cant entirely be sure. If the text was slightly darker, it would be perfect. I would take your old banners out of your gallery as it wont help you get promoted to have old things in your gallery. I know that its hard to take out graphics, especially old ones that you love, but you can always link to them and it increases your chances at promotion if you have newer, better things that showcase your skills now than old graphics that detract from your new stuff.

Blends I like your blends, theyre creative, but something I would particularly watch out for is lowering the opacities of people so that the background can be seen through them, sometimes it works and other times it does not. Text on low opacities generally doesnt work for me, and really makes it harder for me to concentrate on what Im looking at. If you upped the opacities on all your text on your blends, they would benefit bucket loads.

You pretty much have the basics of blending and hard cutting down, and that is a good thing. If you keep working at your text and your image quality I expect that you will be at junior level in no time, practice makes perfect seriously. Rome wasnt built in a day, or so they say sticktongue.gif
I leave you now with a few links to tutorials that I think you will really benefit from/find useful happy.gif

I hope these tutorials help you out, and I hope I wasnt too harsh and that you found this helpful enough, pm me if you need anything clarified! happy.gif
