To register, just saunter up to the top of the page and click "register" then fill out the form and it's time to wait. Within about 10 minutes, you should recieve an e-mail from no-reply[at]the-dark-arts[dot]net asking that you validate your account. Click the link and your account will have been validated. At that point, your name and e-mail address pop up on a list for yours truly to approve. It can take a little while but, trust me, it's worth it.
Your account cannot be finalized until you click on the link in that e-mail. Check your spam boxes, especially if you have Gmail, because our e-mails tend to end up there - remember to add the-dark-arts[dot]net to your safe senders list.
As it were, I try to check in on the validation approvals a few times a day but sometimes, it can take longer.
Why do we admin validate? Well, while we know it makes the board seem a little bit more unfriendly, it does make the board actually more friendly. Spam bots, etc... will register and url validate accounts and then post spam messages on the board that range from sales calls to pornography. Thus, I scroll through each new registered account e-mail address to verify that it comes from a trusted source. E-mails that don't come from a recognizable domain get kicked back - hotmail, aol, aim, yahoo!, comcast, etc... Now, with that having been said, if I see a domain I don't recognize (today it was one from 10minutemail.com) I do always try to find the originating website and see what it is.
Once your account has been validated, this site will go away.
If you are having any issues with registration, please post in this forum for assistance.
