Hi Yuki!

My name is Kaitlin and I’m here to drop off a little bit of holiday love on your gallery. ☺

You’ve got some really brilliant stuff in here, so let me just squee about it all for a minute.

My favorite section at the moment is your banners. They’re all just so pretty and the comp is so good and unique on each one. Your Eyes on Fire banner has this gorgeous ethereal glow to it that I really love and almost makes me think of a faded memory or photograph. The Fantastic Beasts banner is also really well done and I love the text on it too!

Your sigs are another area that really stood out to me as particularly gorgeous. I love how creative each one is and the way you play with textures. (I fail so hard at textures, so I’m super envious of this skill)

All in all, you have a lot of lovely graphics and I’m sure I’ll be back to check out more again soon!

Wishing you happy holidays and a new year filled with joy!

Pel! Nope you haven't tell before, but now you do. And I'm glad you love my works! The key to blend watercolor is water (of course) and layering. I used to layer from the lightest to the thickest.
Thank you, I am also so proud to be your friend!
Oh I am so glad you came back here! I believe you will get back to your last rank in no time!
The guy in that sig is Jung Jaewon (ONE). He's my bae~ Isn't he handsome? xDDD
And who are you talking about my coloring when yours are super gorgeous! I love your vibrant colors so much but I can never nailed it, I dunno why.
About those stars, maybe it's because stars are my bae, and yours are leaf muhaha...

Hi Yuki, I'm here with your requested critique. if you have any questions or queries then feel free to PM me.

+this is your strongest piece in my opinion. I love the minimalistic look and the text works really well. Same goes for +this too.

+ this is your weakest piece. The effects on the text really do not work together. I am also not sure what the main colour of the graphic is as there is red, green and yellow in there.

Now we come on to my favourite part....all about text.

Text is a tricky thing to master and even the top artists here struggle with it so you are not alone by any means. For me there are several rules that I live by, and I tell everyone the same in critiques if that is an area they struggle in:

  1. Font Choice
  2. Text Colour
  3. Text Placement

Font Choice

Font choice can make or break a graphic so I tend to ask myself what type of graphic I am going to create. Am I going for a happy mood or a sad/dark mood? If I am going for a happy graphic I always use sans serif fonts such as bebas or Arial. If I am creating a sad/dark mood I often used scriptive/serif fonts such as sverige script or times new roman. You really want the font to work with the graphic and this is one way I look at font bring the whole graphic together.

Text Colour

To get the right font colour I always try multiple times with the colour picker. Another rule I live by is: light text on dark areas and dark text on light areas. That way every piece of text can be seen clearly. Sometimes with text I will select colours from the surrounding area of where I am placing the text and this way I know the text will work in that placement on the graphic. If I chose a completely contrasting colour from somewhere else on the graphic it may not work well, for example if you were to put the text on a greeny background and then chose red or purple text it would not look right. In that situation you would want to choose a light/pastel green or something.

Text Placement

With any placement of anything withing the graphic you want to make sure you have a clear focal point (where the person's eye is drawn to when they first look at your graphic). If your font is your main focal point then it can be as big as you like. If you are putting it to the side of a person you need them to be your main point of focus so the text will need to be small. The placement of text relates again to font colour because you want to be able to read it clearly. Often I find it easier to keep the text and people together rather than seperating them as that then makes a clearer focal point. Another point is that if a person is your focal point you want the text to be lower than the person (if that makes sense). You do not want it to be level with their face as that will distract the eye.

The colouring on your graphics is so natural and stunning. I especially love the colouring on +this and +this. I cannot fault you on any other part of your gallery. Everything else is spot on in my opinion.

I hope you keep up the good work and can take something from this critique.
