I am really sorry about the super long wait. Over the holidays I
somehow didn't quite find the time to write the critique ;/
I wish you a Happy New Year though and hope this critique arrives
before promos! And congratulations on winning senior of the month
by the way!
Let's get started!
Okay so I looooooove your gallery! Full stop. Or Exclamation mark!
You have a lot of stuff and a great variety going on - it's seriously
great! Your coloring is already super vibrant and stunning and I
believe if you keep doing this you're going to ace it! Also the
composition on your James Potter CI - WHAT IS THAT?? Oh
perfection is what it is! More of that please! Keep being creative
and experiment! It's going to take you places!
I have two challenges for you that might help you spice up your gallery:
1. make a banner with at least 5 people and no animation
2. make an icon set. landscapes only & no text or people!
Since you don't have too much in your gallery, I'll be doing this part
piece by piece.
Your first banner is really lovely. The focus of the banner is clearly set,
the coloring is great and I have nothing to say about the text/font - it's
perfect! The only thing that bothers me a bit is the zigzag texture on the
sides. The flower and the girl are very retro looking and the zigzag just
looks too comicy for my liking - maybe you can din another texture that
is more vintage looking and fits better?
The second banner is really lovely! The composition is great, the text is
gorgeous and I just all around love it! If I'm allowed to nitpick: Be careful
with your hardcutting, it looks as if you missed a bit near the arm/hand
of the girl on the left. And also your colouring: you've got this beautiful
mono theme going on, but behind the girl on the right there's a faint
green blob? Maybe you could get rid of it?
The third banner is really lovely as well! It looks different from your usual
style but it's gorgeous nonetheless! The bigger girl looks a bit LQ though?
And also, the hard cut is a bit too hard, especially on the left side - have
you read the tutorial on blending with layer modes? I think that could be
really useful for you <3 (if you want I can look it up and send you the link)
Fourth banner: love the colours! Love the style! Full stop!
For your last banner I think the text is really gorgeous, the competition is
super interesting, but the contrast seems a bit too high, the girl seems a
bit LQ (maybe it's the filtering? what filters do you use? sometimes after
filtering it's useful to make a layer from visible, sharpen it, and erase the
parts you don't want to sharpen!) and the text on the left looks a bit
random. Maybe you could align it with the rays? Pretty pretty colours
The colours on your first CI are gorgeous and I already said above that
the composition is perfect! Be careful with the hardcutting again though -
The boy on the front has some white left over on his left arm and the top
of his head! I think you could also sharpen the text a bit! It would make it
stand out more - right now it's a tad too blurry for me.
I really like the colours on your second CI as well! Even though it doesn't
look like your usual style, the text is perfect and totally you. It is a teeny
tiny bit overcoloured (I think just the guy's face really) and I would erase a
bit of the spider webs, especially right next to his face - make a smooth
You're the queen of signatures!!! This is your strongest section I think? The
first sig is completely perfect and I don't finny a singly nitpick!
The second one has SUPER GORGEOUS coloring, and the only thing I
can find to nitpick is that the 'away' is a liiiittle bit hard to read and would
do well with a little drop shadow!
I love the composition and the wintery feel, I just think that the blacks/blues
could be a little stronger/the contrast a tad higher. It's really lovely though!
As you've seen the things I criticized were by no means major points! I was
nitpicking all around and I really had to search for things to criticize
I love the style you're developing and the usage of textures in your graphics.
I really think you should follow in that direction: you're really good at it. Keep
being innovative and experiment a lot! Also dare to go into unknown waters!
I'm sure you'll excel!
If you have any questions, feel free to write me a pm! Even if you don't have
them, my mailbox stands wide open!
I hope I could help you a bit and I'm sorry for not replying sooner!
