Has anyone played the game? Anything you particularly care for?

The game has issues but I find it a good way to waste some time.

Any opinions?

I've been playing it since it came out. Like you said, it is a good way to waste some time, just not a lot of time. For me, it has a lot of wasted potential and didn't live up to the expectations or the hype.
One thing that drives me nuts about apps is when you can only play for a few minutes at a time every hour or so because you have to wait for something to recharge (4 minutes per energy?!? are they serious!??!). Not many people have time in their day to keep checking it, which makes it hard for people to do the tasks because they require you to come back (sometimes several times) within the time frame. If I want to use an app like this, I've probably got a spare 10 or more minutes and need something a little more substantial than tapping a screen and using all my energy.
That's the other thing that's driving me nuts. It's mostly just about tapping to use your energy in 30 seconds on things that don't make sense. 5 energies to 'wonder'?? And is there any point to the different values that are used up in those actions? It's a set number of energies to get you to the next star (as I've discovered through experimentation). I swear I've done the same Charms lesson at least 10 times already just so I can unlock learning other spells, and now that I'm in second year, I'm having to do it more than once because 7 stars are needed and an 8 hour lesson only gives you 5.
You also seem to do everything by a spell. Something simple like stirring a potion or polishing your broom could have had different ways of interacting. Why must I follow this set pattern on the screen that makes no sense in this situation?
The final thing that's really driving me up the wall is the lack of choice masked under multiple choice decisions. Sure, you do the friendship things where you calm their worries, but there's a correct answer. It doesn't account for the fact that people respond in different ways to different people. Plus, in the situations where you talking to others in general conversation, sometimes it doesn't matter what you click. Earlier, I had two options: to duel or not to duel. I chose not to duel, but 10 seconds later it's decided for me that I will duel anyway. What was the point of giving me an option when I had to do it either way? They have a set story line and you will end up sticking to it no matter what you choose to do. You don't really get to be you. I, for instance, would never duel a slytherin or sneak into places. I just want to chill at Hogwarts and learn cool stuff :P
On to the storyline. I do like it. It seems like it's going to be fun discovering what the Cursed Vaults are all about. However, the resemblance to Harry's time at Hogwarts (at least so far for me- I'm in my second year) is annoying me a little.

(I feel like I only have complaints, but I'm just going to keep going :P)
I also wish you could go to more lessons. In first year, you only get potions, charms and flying which makes it a little repetitive, especially since you do the same things over and over within them. Second year adds on transfiguration which is nice, but still not enough for me. For me, they should include all the lessons a typical student in that year would do, and have shorten quests/tasks in each of them. They could have done something like 'you need 5 energies to attend this class' and 'you need 2 energies to do this homework' and you have to make sure you also pass your year despite all the other stuff going on. Like I said earlier, there's a lot of wasted potential.
Also, 100 gems just so I can stick glasses on my avatar?! Ridiculous.
I will say that it is nice to be able to go into the Hufflepuff Common Room, even if you can't really explore it or anything (and that stupid prefect insulted me just because I wasn't a high enough level to pick the other option on something. I'm not bitter or mad....)
Good points: Storyline looks fun, love the CR
Bad points: energy requirements, wasted potential, repetitive, constant tapping, set choices despite being given options
Despite all of this, I'm still playing. I want to see the storyline through, and I'm hoping as you move through the game, more becomes available which gives you a nice variety of things to do. It would have been nice to have a way to interact with your friends, even if it's just competing for house points or being able to see where they are in the game. I also wish you could interact with more on the screen. All your can do is find the secret hidden free energies.

Edit: also the trivia questions?! Most of those are so easy that even my mum (who called Dobby 'that funny little man') could answer them. Is this game made for muggles?

Amy, you literally took the words out of my mouth. <3

I was SO excited for this game and unfortunately it's been more of a disappointment. I WANT AN AMAZING OPEN WORLD HARRY POTTER GAME! PLZ! The one thing that bothers me more than anything is how cheesy and annoying the characters are. I honestly haven't played the game in a week because I couldn't handle it anymore. Plus, the absurd amount of "energy" required for an activity is frustrating.

Also, I hate the "tap" thing to complete a task. It seems lazy on the creators' part.

And did anyone find the fight with your rival hilarious? In my mind I was thinking, "Really? Lumos? REALLY? ARE YOU STUPID?!"

I love it! one of my favorite things that unlike similar games where you get penalized if you don’t finish the task within a set time from getting it you aren’t punished. Like in the Kik K game if someone gave you a task you would have to do it within three hours of being given it, whereas this game I could be given the task yesterday but the time limit doesn’t start until I start the actual task. I guess if you haven’t played games like Kim k that might not make sense at all

I do wish we had a flappy bird style flying lesson, I think it would bring in the spirit of the computer games a little more and there’s no reason not to have it when there’s clearly plenty of games that have that. It’s pretty much exactly as I expected so I’m not disappointed, I think it’s super fun!

Too expensive for me. I wish they would have just charged $10 flat and let the player get through the storyline. I actually deleted it off my phone.

i've enjoyed a lot of it so far!! to be honest i'm probably mostly invested bc it's a bit like reading a story where i get to use my own character, and also the graphics and exploring hogwarts a bit is lovely.

the energy thing does rlly annoy me though, because as soon as you get into a lesson it's just like, tap solidly for one minute, use up all your energy, then turn off the app and wait an hour to progress for another one minute, then repeat.... that should really be designed better imo (even just having a smaller energy reserve but having it replenish in a minute at a time would make that better). and i really do wish there was more variety in the tasks bc they had so many options to do cool things with the different magical tasks tbh !!!

but all that being said i'm still enjoying it and am excited to see where the whole ~vaults storyline goes!

honestly i really like the game for what it is but the whole energy thing drives me crazy. and the fact that you have to have energy for certain things like sighing....i mean really? i get to a certain point in a lesson, use up all my energy, and have to wait for more energy to continue playing. and a lot of times i have other things to do and by the time i can go back to playing the time slot for the lesson is over. so many times already i have found myself having to repeat lessons because of this. i'm also kind of annoyed that they make snape hate you right off the bat. even if you're in his own house (i'm a slytherin). the price for wanting to put on some glasses or change your hair etc is pretty outrageous if you ask me. and if anything they should atleast give us more energy. atleast enough to get through an entire class without having to constantly stop or buy more energy for. outside of those things i like the plot so far and i like being able to have my own character and pick the house i want to be in.

I ended up sending an email to the devlopers coming up with a massivelist of things they could improve. I love the game but it could do so much more.

I suggested having mini games to help you earn energy while waiting, having a quiz when doing the sorting, being able to explore more of diagon alley, being able to interact and have mini convos with the characters in the corridors, lower the prices of things in the clothing area.

Some other good idea I have heard others say were: being able to play quidditch, having your own pet, being able to go to yor dorm, socialising with other characters your friends may have, more modern clothing and more customiseable options such as colour, more hair styles etc.

I actually really like it, I'm going through a hufflepuff for the first time, went through as a ravenclaw last time  then ill delete it when I ge tthrough as a hufflepuff and start again :P

The only thing I think could be better is if it was more like a 'tell tale' creators game (but free?) because i really enjoy the tell tale games, and I think I was hoping for that in my head?
